OEM engineering brief

Application Engineering Guide

On a 4V210, ISO or NAMUR valve the real question is: will this coil drop in, run 100% ED, and not burn out on the island? The seven-point checklist below is what we use before we quote.

What the coil has to match

  • MechanicalTube diameter (bore), magnetic length, mounting pitch, plug-in vs flying lead.
  • ConnectorDIN 43650 Form A / B / C. A Form B coil on a Form A housing will not seal or will not fit.
  • ElectricalDC 12/24 V or AC 24/110/220 V. AC and DC windings are not interchangeable on the same tube.
  • DutyIslands are often 100% ED. An intermittent coil left on continuously needs more copper, not “the same 24 V.”

Drop-in checklist

If any line differs from the installed coil, it is not a drop-in. We will say so instead of shipping a look-alike.

  1. Bore / tube diameter and coil height.
  2. Voltage and AC vs DC.
  3. Resistance or power at 20°C — not only nominal voltage.
  4. Duty cycle and ambient next to the manifold (enclosure air).
  5. Connector form, gasket and cable gland.
  6. Insulation class (F/H) and heat coming from the valve body.
  7. Whether the valve still shifts at hot resistance / low voltage.

12 V vs 24 V

24 V DC is the default for new islands. 12 V still appears on mobile plant. Do not “standardize” by changing only the coil voltage on a valve magnetically designed around another ampere-turn number — hot force will move.

Why coils burn or fail to shift

  • Island ambientPacked manifolds run 15–30°C above room. Class B dies; Class F/H survives.
  • Wrong EDA 50% coil left at 100% ED.
  • AC on DC or the reverseOverheating or no shift.
  • DIN gasketOmitted or over-torqued, then pin corrosion.

OEM / ODM path

  1. Tube drawing — bore, height, voltage, DIN form, duty, volume.
  2. Wind spec — 100% ED and insulation class set from island ambient, not the aisle.
  3. Sample — typically 5–7 working days.
  4. Pilot — same process as mass production.

FAQ

Can I replace only the coil on a 4V210?

Yes, if bore, height, voltage, power and connector match. Measure the tube; do not order by the valve series name alone.

Form A vs Form B?

Different pin spacing and gasket. Match the connector already on the cable, or change both sides.

Will a 6 W coil shift a valve that used 3.5 VA?

Maybe, but it will run hotter. Tell us the original resistance and whether the valve is direct or pilot.

Do you have a catalogue 24 V DIN coil?

Yes. If the tube is non-standard, send the outline — faster than trying three “close” SKUs.

Send tube outline, voltage, AC/DC, duty, DIN form and volume to cici@solenoidcn.com. Hardware: coil series.

Have a drawing or sample?

Send voltage, media, pressure, duty and annual volume. We reply with a DFM note, not a catalogue dump.

Frequently Asked Questions

Professional answers for OEM/ODM and technical requirements from our engineering team.

OEM / ODM

Can you customize voltage and dimensions?
Yes. Our in-house engineering team supports full customization of voltage ratings (DC 6V-48V, AC 110V-240V), coil dimensions, mounting configurations, and connector types. We have completed over 500 custom specifications for European appliance brands, with tooling turnaround as fast as 15 working days.
Do you support OEM/ODM projects?
Absolutely. With 20+ years of OEM/ODM experience serving global appliance manufacturers, we provide end-to-end project support -- from concept design, DFM analysis, and prototyping through to mass production. Our dedicated project managers ensure seamless communication and on-time delivery for annual contracts exceeding USD 5M.
Can you develop based on our drawings or samples?
Yes. We accept 2D/3D drawings (STEP, IGES, DWG) or physical samples for reverse engineering. Our engineering team conducts thorough feasibility analysis, provides DFM feedback within 3 business days, and delivers functional prototypes within 10-15 days. We also sign NDAs to protect your intellectual property.

Technical

What insulation classes are available?
We offer insulation classes B (130°C), F (155°C), and H (180°C) per IEC 60085. Class F is our standard for home appliance solenoids, providing excellent thermal endurance for dishwashers, washing machines, and HVAC valves. Class H is available for high-temperature industrial applications upon request.
What protection grades are supported?
Our solenoid coils are manufactured to IP54, IP65, and IP67 protection grades depending on application requirements. For water-contact appliances such as dishwashers and coffee machines, we typically recommend IP65 with epoxy-encapsulated construction for reliable moisture and dust resistance over the product lifecycle.
Can the coils work continuously (100% ED)?
Yes. We design solenoid coils for 100% duty cycle (continuous operation) using high-purity copper wire and Class F/H insulation systems. Thermal management is optimized through precise winding calculations and material selection to maintain coil temperature rise within safe limits, even under 24/7 operation in appliance valve applications.
